We are proud to share that together our members have raised an incredible £4,700 for a range of charities so far in 2025. These achievements reflect not just the generosity of our members, but also their commitment to making a positive difference in our community and beyond.

June – Memorial Day Trophy
Our annual Memorial Day Trophy event took place in June, bringing together players, friends, and supporters for a day of friendly competition and remembrance. Thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of all involved, the event raised £1,100 for Prospect Hospice, a Swindon-based charity providing vital end-of-life care.

July – Epic Cycle for Macmillan Cancer Support
July saw an extraordinary fundraising feat by members Steve Watson and Darren Fernandes, who cycled over 700 miles from Mizen Head in the south of Ireland to Malin Head in the north. Their dedication and endurance raised more than £1,700 for Macmillan Cancer Support, helping fund essential services for people living with cancer.

July – Family Fun Day with Bevirs Law
Also in July, we welcomed employees and partners from our sponsors, Bevirs Law, for a family fun day at the club. The event was full of games, laughter, and community spirit, and raised an additional £170 for Prospect Hospice.

August – Walking for Alzheimer’s Society
In August, member Dave Sutton and his wife Norma took part in one of the Alzheimer’s Society’s national sponsored walks. Covering 13 miles through the beautiful Peak District, they raised over £1,700 in support of Alzheimer’s research and care.
Thank You
On behalf of the entire Supermarine Bowls Club, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who took part, donated, or supported these events in any way. This year’s total of £4,700 is a testament to the dedication, energy, and generosity of our members, friends, and partners and will be further increased following our Macmillan Coffee morning in November.
Together, we have made a real difference to causes that matter.
