On Sunday 23rd June Supermarine Bowls Club hosted our annual Memorial Day competition. The event was sponsored by Bevirs Law. 16 teams took part representing 6 local clubs and the games were all played in a competitive and high spirited manner.
The winners were ‘Allsorts’ representing Purton, Highworth and Shrivenham and Michelle Bowyer from Bevirs Law presented their trophies.
The runners up were representing Purton.
The real winners of the day were Prospect Hospice. Through the fantastic generosity of the players, spectators, members of Supermarine Bowls Club and also our friends from Supermarine Rugby Club (who agreed to include the proceeds of the raffle from the game on Saturday), we raised a total of £1,000. A cheque was handed over to Emma Coates from Prospect Hospice. This annual event has now raised over £20,000 for Prospect Hospice since its inception.
If any bowlers in the local area would like to enter a team for next year please contact Mick Kilburn – mick.kilburn@btinternet.com.
