This year’s gala, which was held on 26th June, saw invited mixed teams of four bowlers made up from Swindon Northend, Shrivenham, Westend, Haydon Wick, Stratton Churchways, Purton, Highworth and Supermarine bowls club, compete for the Friendship Trophy.
The event had new winners this year, being WILDWOOD. Made up of Ian Wilmot and Martin Hale (Swindon), Laura Heath (Supermarine), Kevin Hillier (Westend) and Paul Cooper (Shrivenham). The runners-up were – ETESIA with a new line-up of Roy Major, Dave & Anne Ellis and Kevin Higgs (all Supermarine).
The trophies were sponsored by ETESIA (garden machinery distributers) and we were very pleased to have raised £800 for the Prospect Hospice, bringing the total raised over the years to over £16,000. .
Supermarine Club President Marilyn Kilburn presented the cheque to Elaine Pickford from Prospect.
